How a Post-Apocalyptic Vampire Librarian Saved the World

 

Compelling characters, witty and self-aware dialogue, a successful touch of meta-humour and a really awesome action scene at the climax.

 

It may be hard to believe (after so many movies and stories about vampires), but she has been able to give the theme a fresh and interesting perspective, with intellectual as well as emotional depths, creating characters that actually are likable and believable.

"Cookie" immediately catches your attention. The story is clever, interacts actively with the reader, takes surprising turns and makes for a truly uplifting read. It comes naturally to relate to the characters who are lively, funny and will take you on a stimulating road trip with your inner cool big sister you always imagined you had.

 

Q's Key

 

The writing style is very unique and the way the each character seems to have their own story and how they play a pivotal role in the lead's story is awesome. The image that the story portrays and the atmosphere it depicts gives insight to the thoughts of people in that timeline. I love fantasy stories and loved this book.

 

I like the strong female lead, witty and self-assured (and a blacksmith!).

I especially like fantasy stories which build their own universe and manage to do without referring to actual places or existing people, either real or fictional. That is hard work.

Once more Ursula has tackled a cacophony of characters and baked them into a state of the art caramelised-apple walnut pie with the crispiest, most intricate crust you can come up with. Served with a large dollop of cream of course.
